First FSU Football Game

The Hubs and I took B to his very first Florida State football game this afternoon, and it was so much fun.  My brother has season tickets, so we were able to go with him and have pretty good seats.  The Hubs and I used to have season tickets back in the early years of marriage before the kids, so it had been a WHILE since we had graced the benches of Doak Campbell Stadium, and I must say, it was good to be 'home.'

We got to the game early and were able to walk around outside the stadium and get some pictures.

Then we entered the stadium to gaze upon Bobby Bowden Field.  It was a lot of fun for B to see his name on the signage around the stadium.  Here he is with Uncle J with the sign for the field in the background.

Now B is quite sensitive to loud noises and had some pretty serious anxiety about the noise level inside the stadium.  Pop offered up his noise cancelling head phones that he uses when he goes to the shooting range.  B felt a lot better knowing he had something to help with the volume.  And we got to be 'those parents' whose kid is wearing ear mufflers.  haha  In spite of his nerves, he enjoyed the opening ceremonies with the band playing, the war chant, the fight song, and Chief Oceola riding Renegade and stabbing the spear in the ground.  He was pretty sold from then on.

Then the game got started, or for B the marathon eating of junk food started.  He enjoyed a large bucket of popcorn and an enormous snow cone--neither of which was he able to actually finish.  And he was also eventually able to ditch the noise cancelling head phones once he adjusted to the volume.

When our Seminoles were up 35 to 7 at the half and it was starting to get cold, we decided to watch the band do the halftime show (a tribute to John Bon Jovi which I LOVED) and then we left.  This is a picture of the band playing Bon Jovi's hit "Livin' On a Prayer" specially for the student section.

After we left, we headed to dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings where B fell asleep in my lap and we were able to finish watching the game which we won 80-7!!  After dinner, we grabbed a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts which will serve as a delicious breakfast in the morning.  It was a really fun trip, and we are all looking forward to returning for a game next season.  GO NOLES!!!
